Mahindra World City Jaipur in association with Decathlon Jaipur store organized Sports Utsav Run for Fun Garnered participation of ~900 runners

25th November 2018, Mahindra World City, Jaipur: For the first time Mahindra World City Jaipur in association with Decathlon Sports Utsav - Chal Khelne Chal hosted a running event in the categories of 10km (Timed run) 5Km (Timed Run) and 3Km (Fun Run) at the vertical spine road within Mahindra World City, Jaipur. The day began ‘Sooper’ early at 4 am at Mahindra World City, Jaipur on Sunday. The usual Sunday calm was replaced by an atmosphere of energy and excitement, as close to 900 runners came together for the #RunforFun event. Warm up sessions and Zumba set the tone for the day, as participants prepped up to run in different categories of races. The 10km and 5km races attracted serious runners, while the 3 km ‘Fun Run’ was customized for beginners, or those simply out to have a good time and enjoy the early morning weather of Jaipur. Moreover, many companies from MWC and foreign tourists who came down to see the beauty of the heritage city also participated in the running event. Mr. Vishnu Tak and Mr. Ankit Tiwari were the run ambassadors for the Sports Utsav - Chal Khelne Chal. And that’s not all, from young runners to quinquagenarian and those who had come to cheer the athletes, the total number of participants reached to ~900. There were many local clubs and schools which showed active interest and participated in the event. Nearly 20 Lakh children live on India’s streets with their chances of surviving, learning and thriving extremely bleak. 80% of these children who we see knocking at our car window, selling books at a traffic signal or working at a local eatery do not have a valid identity and hence they're truly #TheInvisibles. Decathlon, Ajmer road & Mahindra World City, Jaipur together decided to help #TheInvisibles and proudly associated with Save the Children India as Philanthropy Partner who have been working towards mainstreaming #TheInvisibles. Mahindra World City ran a selfie contest and created a selfie stand for fun and engagement of the participants. In the contest participants were required to click a selfie against the MWCJ backdrop and upload their pictures on their Facebook & Twitter handles using hashtag #RunforFun and tag Mahindra World City Facebook & Twitter handles and share their experience. Large number of people participated in the contest. The action spilled over the social media with hashtags #RunforFun and #BurntoReedem trending on Twitter and Facebook. MWC Marathon 2018 was flagged off near the main entrance gate of Mahindra World City and picked its way through the serene, green environs of Mahindra World City, Jaipur. Some of the runners who participated in the 10km run said, “The Marathon was very well-organized with great participation from the people creating an energetic environment. It was the first time when people of Jaipur witnessed such kind of energy and excitement. These kinds of marathons should be conducted more frequently. We will definitely be back for the next edition and hope to be in the longer races next year!” Mahindra World City, Jaipur constantly endeavors to create a lively and active environment for the city and the diverse communities living in and around it.
