Cities of the future will be scenarios where people from different communities will be grouped together. And this will hopefully be based on shared interests and attributes. There will, however, be an intrinsic need for people to connect on common ground, to get to know each other better. Urban planners will need to consider this as a key outcome area.
Cities enable us to enrich our lives. Employment, education, food, water and opportunities for social interaction – cities offer us all this and more. They enable us to experience multiple facets of life. At the heart of every city lies aspirations that are shared by citizens – cultural, social, professional, etc. – and serve to unite them. With Cities On The Horizon, we have before us the opportunity to shape unique urban stories, experiences and identities.
